NCC as a Elective Subject CBSE Syllabus

CBSE has decided to offer National Cadet Corps (NCC) as an optional elective subject in class XI and XII from the academic year 2013-14.The pilot project will be launched in few schools in the country.Emphasizing that NCC provides a platform for individual upliftment through the process of channelizing the energy of the youth in constructive pursuits,CBSE in a letter to schools have said: To further the dynamism of learning,CBSE has decided to focus on instilling nationalism,patriotism,spirit de corps by offering NCC as an optional elective subject at Class XI XII levels as it is also mentioned in the National Curriculum Framework 2005.

The major objectives of the elective are to help students develop character,comradeship,discipline,secular outlook,spirit of adventure and the idea of selfless service. NCC can be opted by any student as an elective subject at senior secondary stage in combination with any of the subjects that are already available in the scheme of studies of the Board.This elective at the senior secondary level will also have outdoor activities.

The NCC training curriculum will include not just institutional training,but also attending training camps to get practical outdoor training,going for adventure training wherein NCC students will undergo various adventure activities such trekking,mountaineering and sailing expeditions.Cadets will get chances to interact with regular army,navy and air force units and attachment camps will be conducted to motivate cadets to join the Armed Forces.
