New Farming Methods to be Implemented in Kerala

Agriculture minister KP Mohanan has said that the state government will soon set off a scheme that aims at planting 15 lakh dwarf coconut saplings in five years across the state. He declared the scheme while inaugurating the new hi-tech farming unit at Santhigiri ashram here on Thursday.
”Hi-tech farming promotes the concept of generating pesticide-free vegetables and fruits. We are aiming at transforming Kerala completely into organic farming. The government will offer all possible assistance and guidance to the schemes like hi-tech farming as done by Santhigiri ashram,” said Mohanan.
The minister added that agri-farms will be set up at Nedumangadu at a cost of Rs 10 crore. Palode Ravi MLA who was present on the occasion said that the state witnessed sales of Rs 35 crores worth vegetables during the Onam which were produced indigenously.
