Nine Malayalam films to be screened at International Film Festival of Kerala
Nine Malayalam movies will be screened at the 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to be held here from December 4 to 11.
Ottal (The Trap), an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s 19th century classic short story Vanka by R. Jayaraj, and Satish Babusenan’s Chaayam Poosiya Veedu (The Painted House) will be up against a strong field of international and regional language films in the In competition’ category.
In addition, the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy has finalised a list of seven films that will be showcased in the Malayalam Cinema Today’ section.
There are Ain by Sidharth Siva, Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal by Bijukumar Damodaran, Pathemari by Salim Ahmed, Ozhivudivasathe Kali by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, Nirnayakam by V.K. Prakash, Ennu Ninte Moideen by R.S. Vimal and Kattum Mazhayum by R. Harikumar.
The movies were shortlisted by a jury chaired by writer and film critic Malti Sahai. The other jury members were author M.F. Thomas, Chandrasekhar, Sashi Kumar, and Sudhish Kamath.
