Kasargod
Having established its operations on the 50-km Kasaragod-Mangalore route, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a ‘Ladies Only’ service in order to ease the travel ordeal faced by women travellers.
The bus services that commenced on Monday will leave Kasaragod at 8 a.m. to reach Mangalore at 9.30 a.m. and in the return direction, the bus will leave Mangalore at 6 p.m. to reach here at 7.30 p.m.
The response to the trip on the first day was fairly good and the KSRTC might explore options to introduce more buses if the services get good response in the coming days, a KSRTC official here said.
Presently, the KSRTC operates 37 services on the route while the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operates 39 buses, each making four up and down trips.
The services are a boon for frequent commuters, as quite a number of private buses running on the route have withdrawn services after expiry of their permits.
