Sivagiri Mutt to be inaugurated by Dalai Lama

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama who arrived in Thiruvananthapuram International Airport here on Friday will inaugurate the Sivagiri Mutt’s 80th annual pilgrimage at Varkala today.He is also the chief guest in the Catholicate Centenary celebrations of the Syrian Orthodox Church at Kochi on Sunday.It was in 1965 that Dalai Lama arrived in Thiruvananthapuram for the first time. Swami Rithambarananda, who was among those who came to welcome him, remembers very clearly about the visit. In 2010, Dalai Lama had visited Kochi.
Dalai Lama, who is staying at a hotel here, will leave for Sivagiri at 8 in the morning. At 9 am, he would reach the Mahasamadhi where he would pay floral tribute.
He will present the logo of the pilgrimage and also plant a tree in front of Mutt in memory of his Sivagiri visit.
