Thiruvananthapuram Central and Ernakulam Junction to get Integrated Security System
Thiruvananthapuram Central and Ernakulam Junction Railway Stations of the state will be added with state of the art Integrated Security System. These are highly developed security systems which will improve security on Railway premises, ensure safety of the people, and avert terror attacks.
The ISS has been set up at a cost of Rs.3.3 crore in Thiruvananthapuram Central and Rs.3.5 crore in Ernakulam. Kozhikode, falling under Palakkad railway division, was the first to commission the ISS in the State.
The elite Railway Protection Force (RPF) will manage the system. It comprises a closed-circuit television surveillance system, access control, personal and baggage screening system, explosive detection and disposal system, and system integration.
A centralised control room has been set up in the retiring room on the first floor of the Central station building to monitor through a network of surveillance cameras the movement of all those who enter the platforms, yards, circulating area, and station.
