Muscat
From Muscat Air India office it has been said that 2 flights to Kerala State have been suspended for Air India Express By Air India. Salalah-Thiruvananthapuram (IX541) and Salalah-Cochin-Thiruvananthapuram (IX544) have been suspended from January 15, 2014 whereas Salalah-Calicut flight services will continue to run.
“The two main reasons behind the temporary cancellation are that there was not much load from Salalah at that time and there was also unavailability of aircraft,” the senior official told.
The travel agents in Oman were informed about the change in schedule on November 28 itself. “We are returning the payment received from the customers,” a travel agent said. Air Indian Express was operating three services to the Kerala sector. All the services were started after the Keralites in Oman lobbied for them.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Air India passengers will soon be able to convert their frequent flier miles into tickets of 28 airlines, including Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and others. The national carrier is set to join Star Alliance, which has agreed to consider the national carrier’s membership.
