Hackers steal Rs 78K from Thrissur bank

Anto Puthurkkan, victim and a trader based in Thrissur has lodged a complaint with the police that some Cyber criminals hacked his Thrissur Bank account and stole Rs. 78,000. The police have a given a letter to the bank authorities at East Fort seeking the details of the fraud. according to Thrissur East police.

The police will register a case only after getting the reply from the bank authorities. According to the complainant, the hackers must have stolen the customer’s username and password through internet. The sum was withdrawn in four transactions.

The police suspect the victim may have responded to a mail sent by the fraudsters. The hackers probably got the details of his account and username when he followed the directions of fraudsters in their mail, said K Suresh, SI, Thrissur East Station.

If the complaint is true the police will register a case under various sections of the IPC and IT Act, said the police. The complainant also alleged that he suspects more fund might have been looted by the fraudsters in similar way from his account.

According to complainant, Hackers stole 78000 from his Thrissur ICICI bank account.
