CPI(M) member hacked to death, Hartal in Thrissur

The hartal called by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in protest against the murder of party member Mathilakathu Shihabudheen (38) was total in the district.
CPI(M) Thirunellur branch committee member Shihabudheen was hacked to death allegedly by RSS activists on his way home to Pavaratty on Sunday night in Thrissur disrict. He suffered injuries on his head and hands. Though he was rushed to a hospital, his life could not be saved.
Shihab was attacked by a gang that came by a car by 8.30 p.m. Though he was rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to injuries there. Shihab was an accused in the murder of an RSS worker which dates back to 2008. His brother was murdered by RSS activists.
A CPM worker, who was undergoing treatment for the injuries he sustained in an attack, died here on Sunday. The deceased Mathilakath Shihab, belonging to Pavaratti, is CPM Thirunalloor branch committee member. He is an accused in the murder of an RSS functionary in 2010.
