State Wide Strike by Mullaiperiyar Samara Samithi
Mullaiperiyar Samara Samithi had called the state wide strike in Kerala over the Mullaiperiyar issue for which Idukki was completely shut down from colleges, banks, boathouses, tourist spots but the strike does not seem to have evoke much response outside Idukki district.
Besides, procession and dharna were conducted at several places in the district by several organizations protesting the verdict. While the hartal was near total in the high range areas of Kattapana and Kumily, it did not make much impact in the low range areas such as Thodupuzha.
However, the day long total shutdown observed in Kerala did not affect the inter-state vehicular traffic from Kanyakumari district.
