M.M. Mani ramand was extended to till 7 Dec by Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Nedumkandam. The District and Sessions Court in Thodupuzha rejected his bail application on Monday.Mani was produced before the magistrate court from the Peerumade sub-jail by 11 a.m. He was arrested on November 21 in a reopened case of murder of an Indian National Trade Union Congress worker, Anchery Baby, on November 13, 1982. He is the second accused.
The case was reopened after Mani said in a public speech at Manakkad, near Thodupuzha, that his party had a hit list of 13 opponents and three of them had been eliminated. His bail petition was rejected as the public prosecutor argued that the investigation was at an initial stage and if the accused was released on bail, he was likely to influence the investigation.
