New Company Formed for Mono Rail Project in Kerala

Kerala Mono Rail Corporation, a new company, has been floated to implement two separate mono rail projects – one at Thiruvananthapuram and another at Kozhikode, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Thursday.Ruling out all speculations about the Kochi Metro, Chandy said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will definitely take up the proposed project and its former chief E. Sreedhaaran will be heading it.
“The state government has granted Rs.4,692 crores for upgradation and rehabilitation of 1,204 km of selected roads in the state,” said PWD Minister V.K. Ebrahim Kunju. “Infrastructure possibilities should be explored to the maximum for all-round development in the state and today’s conference is the step towards that. Infrastructure development will be done keeping in mind the environment aspects,” he added.
