CUSAT University Vice Chancellor to Retire

Ramachandran Thekkedath, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat), will retire on Friday after completing three years of service.He assumed office on January 4, 2010. A native of Pattambi in Palakkad district, Ramachandran has extensive research and development experience in physics, laser, medical devices and bio-instrumentation.
Ramachandran also worked in the US for many years. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA.
He was investigator for several research projects too. Before going to the US, Ramachandran served as a senior scientist at the Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, where he developed several new technologies based on laser for clinical applications.
