Hummer Case: No Bail to accused before six month
Businessman Muhammed Nisham, who allegedly rammed his Hummer into a security guard and killed him, has been booked under a tougher law, Anti Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA), which ensures that he will be in jail for the next six months.
Nisham is accused of killing a security guard with his Hummer SUV.
Thrissur District Collector M S Jaya, in her capacity as District Magistrate, issued orders to slap Kerala Anti Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) on the businessman after a recommendation from City Police commissioner R Nishanthini.
Out of the 13 cases pending against him, provisions under KAAPA could be framed in six cases, Collector told PTI.
Nisham in a fit of rage had assaulted security guard Chandra Bose and later rammed him with his Hummer vehicle, following an argument over delay in opening the gate at a posh residential township in south Indian state of Kerala on January 29.
The incident had evoked widespread protests in the state and Chief MinisterOommen Chandyvisited the victim at the hospital while he was under treatment and had assured his family that a speedy probe would be conducted.
