Edappally-Aluva Road Widening to Start After Monsoon Stops

Kochi
With the rains abating in the city, the widening work along the Edappally-Aluva stretch as part of the Kochi metro rail project is set to gain momentum.According to officials with the DMRC, work which had begun in front of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and the Muttom yard had slowed down following the rains.
However, now with more favourable weather conditions for the past two to three days, the pace of the widening work will increase. The DMRC is planning to widen the entire stretch between Edappally and Aluva.
The road will be widened by three metres on either side across the stretch. Earlier, there were issues between the DMRC and the NHAI over undertaking widening of the National Highway.
However, the issues were later solved and soon the KMRL and the NHAI will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
