First employability center in Kerala Inaugurated

Kochi
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the State’s first employability centre at the district employment exchange here on Monday. Mr. Chandy said the State government is giving shape to new innovative projects realizing the futility of unemployment wages, and hollow declarations.
Mr. Chandy hoped that the employment centres would help fill the void resulting from lack of continuous training and eligibility for jobs despite high educational qualifications of prospective candidates. Employment exchanges at Kollam, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode districts will be initially elevated into employability centres. Labour Minister Shibu Baby John said more than pointing out jobs to job aspirants, the employability centres would develop them into candidates fit for those jobs.
Various programmes to help improve the skill of job aspirants in the construction, nursing, security, jewellery making, oil and natural gas sectors will be introduced shortly.
