Kavalam Narayana won Pandalam Kerala Varma award

Eminent poet and playwright Kavalam Narayana Panicker has been chosen for this year’s Pandalam Kerala Varma award for his collection of poems `Kavalam Kavithakal.’ The award carries Rs 15,000, memento and citation.The media award of the Kerala Varma Trust, named after the renowned poet Pandalam Kerala Varma (1879-1919), went to senior journalist Thomas Jacob of `Malayala Manorama’ for his column `Kathakoottu’ in Manorama weekly.
The awards would be presented at a function to be held here on January 31. Film-maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan would inaugurate the function, Trust president K S Ravikumar and secretary P Ravi Varma told reporters here Monday.
