New Legislature Museum in Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex

A New Museum Dedicated to the life of Mahatma Gandhi was opened here in the complex of Kerala Legislative Assembly . Governor Nikhil Kumar has said the new history museum opened at Kerala legislative assembly complex here on Monday was unique and it would remain a role model for state assemblies elsewhere in the country. “The museum, a memorial of the Assembly to the Father of the Nation is a boon to students. It will promote the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. It also focuses on the personal life of the Mahatma,” he said.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, in his presidential address, said a project should be worked out to make the museum useful for history students. Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan delivered the keynote address .
According to the Governor, no other state legislative assembly complex in the country houses such an authentic section that throws light on the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi. “I am told that the organizers had spent one full year to collect the rarest of the rare pictures of Gandhi to be showcased in the Gandhi Smrithi Mandapam,” he said.
