The Kerala government will submit a gist of its final arguments, following the Supreme Court’s five-member Constitutional Bench’s demand, in the Mullaperiyar case to the Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 4. Tamil Nadu also will submit its final arguments on the same day.
The Constitutional Bench had asked both parties to give a summary of the main arguments and also substantiate them by attaching scientific documents and reports related to the case. Consequently, the Kerala government has prepared a 20-page report with accompanying evidences and documents.
The highlight of the proceedings so far is that the Bench has supported Kerala government’s views after reviewing arguments based on scientific deductions from both sides. Once, the bench also observed that the Empowered Committee constituted by the Supreme Court did not do justice to Kerala.
The Supreme Court had allotted a two-week deadline to both parties to submit their main arguments.
