The Cochin Port Joint Trade Union Forum has approached the Ministry of Shipping demanding immediate steps to save the Cochin Port Trust, which is facing acute financial crisis. Trade union leaders P M Mohammed Hanifa and C D Nandakumar submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of Shipping G K Vasan here.
The leaders, in the memorandum, have demanded a sanction to the Cochin Port to procure a grab-cum-hopper suction, so that essential maintenance dredging can be carried out by the Port itself.
