National Games: Kerala bag 16th Gold
In the ongoing 35th National Games, Kerala bagged 16 Gold, 15 Silver and 24 Bronze medals till the noon. Kerala is at the Fourth place in over all points tally of the medals.
On Saturday Kerala bagged Two Gold Medals, thanks to cyclist V. Rajani and women’s water polo team’s emphatic victories, taking the state’s number of gold medals to 16. V. Rajani started Kerala’s medal hunt by striking gold in the 72 kilometre road mass start, underscoring the hosts powerfull legacy in women’s cycling, which offers sixty medals including 20 gold. Ankita T.P of Kerala bagged the bronze, behind Himarani of Haryana who won the silver.
Kerala stars Mahitha Mohan, Parvathy V.J., Bismi S, Ankita P.C. and Lydiamol M Sunny were among the lead bunch throughout the race. The Kerala squad is led by Mahitha Mohan.
For Rajani, this is a sort of comeback as she had been away from competitions for 2-3 years.
The cycling competition will have road events first as many pedalists are taking part in the Asian Cycling Championship in Thailand, inlcuding Kezia Varghese, Nayana Rajesh and Gopika of Kerala.
Mahitha Mohan (C), Parvathy V.G., Vinaya Vijayan, Tinu Maria Tomy, Anjitha T.P., Krishnendu T Krishna, Bismi S, Lydiamol M.Sunny are the part of Kerala Women’s team.
