Prize money will be distributed on March 7 to medalists
Keeping the promise the Kerala government has decided to distribute the prize money on March 7 to the sports person and coaches who win the medals in the last National Games concluded in Kerala.
Prize money will be distributed at a function in Kottayam on March 7 and it would be given to medal winners in individual and team events and to coaches.
Cash awards will also be given to chef-de-mission and deputy chef-de-missions and other officials who were part of the Kerala team that finished second in the overall medals tally.
It is a commendable gesture from the state Government to distribute the prize money, three weeks after the Games were over in Thiruvananthapuram on February 14.
Gold medal winners in individual events will receive a cash award of Rs 5 lakh while silver and bronze medallists will get Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 2 lakhs respectively.
The members of the Kerala team that won gold medals in team events will each receive Rs 2 lakh. The corresponding figure for silver and bronze medallists in team events are Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.
The coaches of gold medal winners will receive Rs 1 lakh as cash award while coaches of silver and bronze medallists will get Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
