Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) will open an academic staff training college on the campus in the next academic year.
Vice-chancellor P Rajendran said the university would use the fund allotted by the Union government to the university in the 2012-13 budget for the purpose. “The Centre had allotted Rs 100 crore for the university as part of grants allocated for agricultural universities across the nation. We propose to train academics in research and provide them hands-on experience in research works of other universities,” he said.
Rajendran said the college would seek to provide information on developments in other universities, new methods of teaching and research. Academics from other universities will also be allowed to participate in the training.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the valedictory function of a three-day training programme for assistant professors on Friday.
