First Green Cooperative Society IT Park Will be Opened In December
A daily labourers’ co-operative society founded by a social reformer of north Kerala nine decades ago is all set to turn a new chapter with its Rs 600 crore ultra-modern Cyber Park in Kozhikode district slated for inauguration by the year end.
Top officials of Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS Ltd.), founded by Guru Vagbhatananda in 1925, said work on the first green IT Park in the state had been completed and it will be opened in December.
The Cyber Park is built in 14 acres of land owned by the society in Nellikkunnu village near Kozhikode city.
“It is really a path-breaking initiative. The 10-storey UL Cyber Park is an architectural marvel. Built in 31 lakh sq ft by applying ultra-modern planning guidelines, it has already taken a special place on the world IT map,” said society President Ramesan Paleri.
He said with Cyber Park, ULCS aims to provide IT professionals of Kerala a job of global standards in their own native soil.
“This new venture is expected to generate 40,000 jobs in the field of Information Technology. It is also expected to provide job opportunities to 100,000 people indirectly,” Paleri told PTI.
UL Cyberpark, the first IT Park in Kozhikode region, is developed as an IT/ITES Special Economic Zone. It is a green building and LEED certified IT Park rated for Gold standards. officials said.
Y Abhilash, CEO of the society, recalled the UL Technology Solution’s humble beginning in the field of IT just three years ago and how it entered into a multi-crore business.

Understanding that co-operative sangams were part of a long chain that could help in achieving the vision of Vagbhatananda, many labourers agreed to put their hand together, some half-heartedly, to build up the society, they said.
“That decision resulted in the formation of one of the biggest co-operative societies in Asia today. In short, the initiative commenced on Feb 25, 1925 literally rewrote the history of labourers,” society secretary S Shaju said. PTI TGB VS DV MVV 09201335 NNNN .
