Huge Amount of Ganja Seized in Kozhikode

The Kozhikode police on Tuesday arrested a person, a native of Tamil Nadu on the charge of keeping in his possession six kgs of ganja.
A team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) K. R. Premachandran and Town Circle Inspector T.K. Ashraf nabbed P. Murugan, 42, of Nadutheruvu, Theni, from Annie Hall Road here at around 11 a.m.
This was following a tip-off the officers received that the accused had arrived in the city to supply ganja to retail drug -pushers in the city. The police officers had approached him in the guise of customers.
Investigations revealed that Murugan had been regularly supplying ganja to retailers in the city as well as in Panniyankara and Feroke areas. He used to transport the stuff from Cumbum in Theni district after taking delivery orders over mobile phone from retailers whose regular customers included migrant labourers, youths and students. Further investigations are on, the police said.
