Kerala Bar Licensing issue : Supreme Court slams Kerala Goverment.
On Thurusday 23 Jan. Supreme Court slams kerala on his liquor policy while dismissing the appeal by the state government against granting licences to 10 bar hotels. Although the government’s counsels — V Giri and standing counsel Ramesh Babu — sought two weeks’ time for granting licences to the 10 bars, the court denied it.
The bench observed that it was not the Supreme Court’s job to dispose cases that are under the consideration of the high court. A division bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and Arun Kumar Mishra didn’t hide its annoyance at the regularity with which the state government was filing appeals against interim orders of the Kerala high court on the bar licensing issue.
