The members of Kerala Legislative Assembly were introduced to e-governance program by Kerala State IT Mission , at Niyamsabha in Thiruvananthapuram . Chief Minister Shri Oomen Chandy inaugurated the meeting and said that the primary objective of this lesson is to provide an orientation to the MLAs and to discuss challenges in speeding up the delivery of e-services in the State.

Kerala considers e-Governance as the key vehicle for delivering Government services in a transparent and efficient manner.

The CM added that as part of extending the e-services to the citizens, the government is planning to set up an online tracking mechanism to track the applications given by people with all its departments. They can check the status of their petitions given at various government officers through Akshaya Centres. With this the people need not come to Trivandrum to know the status of their petitions.
