Biju Radhakrishnan had sought Shalu Menon’s help to come out of jail, before her arrest. In a letter, purportedly written to Shalu, Biju told her to do her best to get him out of jail. The letter has been leaked to the media and is said to be sent through a prison inmate.
Mentioning the solar scam, Biju writes: “The big fishes involved in the scam are outside. I have not revealed even 1% facts about the scam. If I reveal the entire episode, the government itself will come down.”He further alleges: “Police are hiding many facts, That’s why Jikku Jacob and Saleem Raj, the two former personal staff members of the chief minister, are not arrested.
Biju also criticizes police for not questioning Tenny Joppan (Joppan was not arrested then), and Saritha S Nair’s driver, her mother and an advocate friend. “Saritha’s mother and the advocate know about funds collected by her from various persons,” Biju writes. “All the arrests have been made alleging personal connections and not based on valuable proofs. Many powerful people involved in the case are not in the radar of police,” he says in the four-page letter.
Biju also asks Shalu why there has been no probe into Saritha’s Rs 5 lakh donation to a trust headed by chief minister Oommen Chandy. The letter, which throws light into the strong bond he has with Shalu, concludes by saying that he has faith only in Shalu, hence she should do her level best to get him out of the jail.
