Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala the former Chief of KPCC told that the final selection of the KPCC will be selected by Sonia Gandhi the congress president. He said media speculation on the new KPCC chief are misleading. “Sonia Gandhi knows the leaders from the state. She will take an appropriate decision at the earliest,” he said .
The party high command is said to be keen to elect an able and eminent leader as KPCC chief as the party needs to be led by him in the coming Lok Sabha polls. But various factions within the state Congress have already started lobbying for the post.
Though Chandy and Chennithala are supporting Assembly Speaker G. Karthikeyan for the post, Union minister of state Mullappally Ramachandran and Congress I group leader from Kannur, K. Sudhakaran, are lobbying for the post. Sudhakaran, who is a prominent leader of the I group led by Chennithala, had already expressed his desire to become a part of KPCC.
