Gujarat chief minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address office-bearers of BJP in the state on the strategies for the coming Lok Sabha polls on Wednesday. Around 100 office-bearers from state president and general secretaries to district president and secretaries will attend the meeting that will be held here at Mascot Hotel at 5pm.
Sources in the BJP said the meeting will be an official launch of BJP’s campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. Modi is expected to outline the priorities of the party in the coming polls at the meeting. Modi, who will reach the capital in the evening, will camp at Mascot Hotel and leave for Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram at Vallikkavu, Kollam, by helicopter on Thursday morning.
Though not confirmed, Modi is expected to offer tributes to the newly installed statue of Swami Vivekananda at Kowdiar. He may even seek an appointment with Uthradom Thirunal Marthandavarma, head of Travancore royal family. He is also likely to pay a visit to Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple during his stay in Kerala.
A few months ago Modi had come to Thiruvananthapuram and had paid a visit to Sivagiri Mutt (at Varkala) founded by saint and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.
In view of Modi’s visit, the security in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam has been tightened. Police teams are patrolling round-the-clock and the Mascot Hotel and premises are already under the close surveillance of security agencies.
